KH Shutter is an expressive monospaced display typeface inspired by the characteristics of the Hebrew alphabet. It is strongly connected to the DNA of Thomas Kurppa’s designs, incorporating geometrical construction, 45° angles and unexpected solutions. It was originally designed as a proposal for the identity design for a photography exhibition at Fotografiska in New York. The photographer was of Hebrew origin, why the Hebrew alphabet influenced the letter designs. The proposal was neglected, but we enjoyed the letters to the extent that we wanted to make it into its own family of display fonts.
KH Shutter is an uppercase only typeface and comes in three distinct weights. It has a quite extensive character set for being such an expressive headline-style font, including currency symbols, arrows and accented characters.
